It took approximately 4 1/2 hours and lasted a span of two days to determine a champion.

In a continuation of Tuesday’s game that was suspended due to darkness after 14 innings in a 2-2 tie, host Boone Grove advanced to its third straight Class 2A semistate on a Gianna Hamady bunt that sealed the 3-2 victory, 23-inning victory over Bishop Noll.

“Nobody deserved to lose that game, I’m almost speechless after that kind of game,” Boone Grove coach Ron Saunders said. “I feel sorry for Brittany (Anderson) and Ashley (Gordish), because they’ve put their heart and soul into this. Gordish pitching 23 innings? That’s unreal…
