One of the traditions Pat Antone brought to Boone Grove as coach was something called the “bone game”.
“One of the coaches I played (football) for at Chesterton, Dan McCoy, talked about how when he was at Griffith they had a bone game,” Antone said. “They had a big bone that they locked in chains and if they won the game, the seniors got to unlock it, take a picture with it, and a picture was put on the wall with the year and score. If they lost, it stays locked up.”
The Wolves looked a little inquisitively at Antone when he raised his modified version of the idea, “a cage game”, in the preseason, but as he explained the background of it, it caught on. It just became a matter of not having the chosen game postponed…
